Free In-Person Consultation: What to Expect & What to Bring
By Faye Aesthetics, Inc. | October 15, 2026
Serving Costa Mesa and nearby communities including Fountain Valley, Westminster, Seal Beach, Newport Beach, and Garden Grove.
One of the things people tell me again and again is that “from the moment you sit in her chair, you just know you’re in expert hands.” If you’re nervous about a free in-person consultation, that feeling matters. It’s normal to worry you’ll be sold to, judged, or rushed. My job is to make this easy. Your consult is no-cost, no-pressure, and usually takes 20 to 45 minutes. We’ll talk through your goals, your health history, what’s realistic, what the timeline looks like, and what it costs. You’ll leave with clarity, even if you decide to think on it.
Before your free in-person consultation in Costa Mesa: 7 things I want you to bring
The consult goes fast in the best way when you show up with the right info. People often find me searching “estheticians near me, ” “facial spa near me, ” or “eyebrows near me, ” and they have 10 tabs open. Let’s turn that into a real plan.
- A medication + supplement list, including topicals (retinoids, acne meds) and any recent antibiotics.
- Your medical history highlights, especially allergies, autoimmune conditions, pregnancy or breastfeeding, and any history of cold sores if we’re discussing lip services like lip blushing near me.
- Inspo photos of what you like, plus one of what you do not want. This is huge for tinted brows, microblading, and ombre powder brow conversations.
- A few makeup-free selfies in natural light (phone is fine). If we’re planning a facial treatment or acne support, this helps me see what your skin does day to day.
- Your “what I’ve tried” notes. Products, peels, laser, old permanent makeup, even that one brow appointment 10 years ago.
- A quick list of questions. Downtime, pain, touch-ups, upkeep, and total cost.
- Time to confirm in advance. I do need you to confirm your appointment ahead of time so we’re both protected and the schedule stays clean.
If your consult is skin-focused, I generally recommend coming with a clean face or minimal makeup so I can see texture and tone clearly. If you’re coming from Northwest Huntington Beach or the Bolsa Chica area, give yourself a little buffer for traffic around I-405 or Pacific Coast Highway. I keep consults concise on purpose, but I don’t like starting you off stressed.
What happens during the consult (20 to 45 minutes, step by step)
When you arrive, I’ll get you checked in and we’ll sit down and talk first. This is where a lot of first-timers relax because it’s not a “jump right into treatment” situation. People have said I “explain nicely and in detail”, and that’s exactly what I aim for, especially if you’re comparing options like eyebrow permanent makeup, a facial near me, or body sculpting with skin tightening.
1) We get clear on your goal
You tell me what’s bothering you and what you want instead. Some people come in for brows that look natural and balanced. Some want anti-aging maintenance that stays subtle. Some are dealing with an old brow tattoo that needs correction, or faded work from somewhere else. I’ll ask a few follow-ups so I’m not guessing.
2) Quick review of health history
This is the practical part. Meds, allergies, recent treatments, skin sensitivities. If a brief exam makes sense, we’ll do it, but I keep it respectful and efficient. Wear comfortable clothing if you’re asking about body areas, like tummy concerns, because it makes a quick look easy and keeps you covered.
3) Options, timeline, and real-life upkeep
I’ll lay out what I think fits your goal, plus alternatives. If we’re talking brows, I’ll explain why I might steer you toward an ombre powder brow over microblading for certain skin types, or how I approach reshaping so it suits your face. If we’re talking skin, we’ll discuss what a series looks like and what “maintenance” really means so you aren’t surprised later.
“Faye took the time to explain the procedure and made me feel comfortable with process.”

4) Pricing and next steps, with zero pressure
Before you leave, you’ll know the estimated cost and what the next appointment would be, including any expected touch-up timing for permanent makeup services. If you’re on a tight schedule, like a lot of Costa Mesa commuters or people coming in after the beach near Bolsa Chica, I’ll keep it focused. You never have to book on the spot.
After your consult: how I help you leave with a plan (not a sales pitch)
A consult is only useful if you walk out knowing what to do next. I’ll summarize what we discussed and what I recommend, including realistic timing and what to expect right after a treatment if you decide to move forward. For example, if you’re considering a facial treatment that includes exfoliation or peeling, we’ll talk about what your skin may do over the next few days and how to support it.
A simple rule I stick to: if there’s downtime, I’ll say it plainly and help you plan around work, workouts, and events.
- If you’re considering brows or lips, we’ll talk through healing time, when color settles, and what touch-ups look like.
- If skin is your focus, we’ll go over a basic at-home routine so you aren’t undoing results with the wrong actives.
- If body is your focus, like sculpting goals or wanting to loose weight support alongside skin tightening, I’ll explain what a realistic timeline looks like and what results tend to require consistency.
A lot of people tell me they’re surprised by how calm the space feels. Clean matters. Comfort matters. And if you decide to book later, you’re not starting over because I keep notes on what we discussed.
3 confidence-boosting tips I share with first-timers (especially for brows near me searches)
If you’ve been searching “brows near me” or “eyebrows near me” for weeks, you’re not alone. Here’s what tends to make the biggest difference for a happy decision.
Tip #1: Bring your brow history, even if it’s old
I’ve worked with people who had brow work done many years ago and needed help correcting or covering older pigment. That history changes what I recommend, so don’t be shy about it.
Tip #2: Ask me for the “keep it natural” plan
A lot of my long-time clients come to me because they want results that look fresh, subtle, and effortless. If your biggest fear is looking overdone, say that early. I’ll guide the shape and shade conversation so it stays realistic for your face.
Tip #3: Use the consult to compare options, not just pick a service
Sometimes the right starting point is not the thing you came in asking for. I’ve had first-time visitors tell me they didn’t know what treatment would be best for their skin, and they felt relieved once we talked it through. That’s the point of a no-pressure consult.

Free in-person consultation FAQs (the real answers)
Is a Free In-Person Consultation really free?
Yes. Your in-person consultation is complimentary. It’s time set aside for conversation, evaluation if needed, and clear recommendations, not a paid appointment.
How long will my Free In-Person Consultation take?
Most consultations take 20 to 45 minutes. If you bring photos, a medication list, and your main questions, we can usually stay right in that window.
Do I need to bring medical records or a list of medications to my consultation?
You don’t need full medical records, but I do want a list of your current medications and supplements, plus any relevant health history details. It helps me recommend options that make sense for you.
Will I be pressured to book a treatment during the free consultation?
No. I’ll explain your options, timeline, and pricing, then you decide. If you want to think it over, that’s completely fine.
Can I bring someone with me to my Free In-Person Consultation?
Yes. You’re welcome to bring someone with you if it helps you feel more comfortable and supported while we talk through your goals and options.
